That Place

That Place- March 29th

1 Kings 17:2-9 New King James Version (NKJV)

2 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 3 “Get away from here and turn eastward, and hide by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. 4 And it will be that you shall drink from the brook, and I have commanded the ravens to feed you there.” 5 So he went and did according to the word of the Lord, for he went and stayed by the Brook Cherith, which flows into the Jordan. 6 The ravens brought him bread and meat in the morning, and bread and meat in the evening; and he drank from the brook. 7 And it happened after a while that the brook dried up, because there had been no rain in the land. 8 Then the word of the Lord came to him, saying, 9 “Arise, go to Zarephath, which belongs to Sidon, and dwell there. See, I have commanded a widow there to provide for you.”

In this story, we find God giving specific instructions to Elijah the prophet in a time of famine. He said, I have already commanded the ravens to feed you at a designated place. If you get to where you’re supposed to be, the ravens will feed you there. If you go to some other city, the ravens won’t come.

3 things I want you to see in this story this morning are:

  1. That place was a place of power.

  2. That place was a place of provision

  3. That place was a place of purpose

I truly believe that if Elijah would have gone anywhere else but That place, he would have missed God’s power, God’s provision and God’s purpose for his life.

The same is for you today, everything always comes down to two words, surrender and obedience.  You may be watching today and feel like your life has been blown off course, let’s be honest none of us thought we would be where we are today. I’ve always dreamed and believed I would preach to larger crowds in attendance, I’ve never had a vision or a dream of only preaching to one man behind a camera but while to me that the way it looks, God is doing something bigger. He’s put us in this time and place to show us His power, His provision and His purpose. Last week was our first ever live feed on any format and the last I checked last week it had reached over 2,000 people.

I want to tell you this morning that God has you right where He wants you even if it doesn’t feel like it to you but you have to surrender and be obedient and when you do, you will see Him move in your life and in your situation.

After Judas betrayed Jesus and went into the field and hung himself the other 11 disciples were gathered in the upper room about to replace Judas and they were wrestling with the decision of who that should be. You might think that it would have to be somebody that has this great anointing on his life, maybe a preacher or has many signs and wonders following him but that wasn’t it at all, they were just looking for somebody that had been there from the beginning. They ended up replacing him with a man name Matthias, he was there when Jesus healed the sick, he was there when He made the lame walk, he was there when He was baptized. He was there all the time. That’s all that matter is he was there!

Where are you this morning? Are you in that place that God told you to be? The bible says that they that wait upon the lord shall renew their strength, they shall mount of with wings as eagles they shall run and not be weary and they shall walk and not faint.

The enemy has beat some of you up and made you feel like a failure but stay faithful in that place that God has put you. No recognition from anyone, stay faithful in that place that God has you.

If you will stay faithful, God sees you. You do what you’re supposed to do and leave the rest to the Lord. He sees, He knows, and he has a plan.

Let’s pray.
