Stop the Noise Week 2 March 17th 2019

(John 10:3-5) To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice. And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

Why God Speaks

(Matthew 1:23) 23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.

God speaks to facilitatefriendship.

(Exodus 33:11) 11 And the Lord spake unto Moses face to face, as a man speaketh unto his friend. And he turned again into the camp: but his servant Joshua, the son of Nun, a young man, departed not out of the tabernacle.

The Whispers of God

(1 Kings 19:11-12) And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the Lord. And, behold, the Lord passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the Lord; but the Lord was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the Lord was not in the earthquake:12 And after the earthquake a fire; but the Lord was not in the fire: and after the fire a still small voice. (It was in that still small voice that God spoke to Elijah.)

1. He whispers encouragement.

(Romans 8:16) 16 The Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God:

(Isaiah 55:3) Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.

2. He whispers warnings.

(Acts 16:6-7) Now when they had gone throughout Phrygia and the region of Galatia, and were forbidden of the Holy Ghost to preach the word in Asia,After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

(Isaiah 30:21) 21 And thine ears shall hear a word behind thee, saying, This is the way, walk ye in it, when ye turn to the right hand, and when ye turn to the left.

3. He whispers direction.

(Luke 2:27) 27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

(Acts 20:22) 22 And now, behold, I go bound in the spirit unto Jerusalem, not knowing the things that shall befall me there:

4. He whispers dreams.

(Job 33:14-15) For God speaketh once, yea twice, yet man perceiveth it not.15 In a dream, in a vision of the night, when deep sleep falleth upon men, in slumberings upon the bed;

Speak to me LORD...
